History of the Academy

St. Gabriel's Academy was established in 1962 by the Society of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, responding to an invitation from Bring. Mark Valladares, then commandant of BEG & Centre, Roorkee. The school had only 26 students on roll, all accommodated in the hostel, housed in Gen. William's bungalow along with the Brothers. The school continued to function in the same building till 1965 when the present three storied building was put up by the BEG with the expertise of CBRI, Roorkee, within a span of three months a remarkable achievement.

The students continued to stay in William's bungalow till 1967 after which they were shifted to the 1st floor of one of the wings of the school building.

The hostel was closed down in 1973 due to shortage of accommodation as the strength of the school increases considerably. Till the year 1975, a Academy consisted of Classes IV to IX and after 1975 classes X, XI and XII were introduced successively. In the year 1978-79 the primary classes were added.

As the world ushers into a new millennium, the Academy steps into 37th year of its prestigious existence and gears itself to meet the new changes.
